Our Privacy Policy

The short version
Sholo is an AI co-founder app for solo founders. To work, it needs to save the things you tell it: your account details, your chats, your lists, your wins and your Inspo board pictures.
Your messages are sent to an AI provider (Anthropic) so Sholo can reply. They are not used for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
If you attach an image in a chat, it is sent to Anthropic to help write that reply. Sholo does not store it. Pictures you add to your Inspo board are different: they are stored in your account until you delete them.
Sholo can remember useful facts from your chats so you don't have to repeat yourself. You can ask us to remove them.
Subscriptions are bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never see your card or bank details.
You can delete your account yourself in the app, or ask us to. Section 11 explains one limit on how stored picture files are removed.
Please don't share anything in Sholo that you wouldn't want stored, such as health details, family details, bank account numbers, passwords or government ID numbers. Sholo doesn't need them.
1. Who we are
Sholo is operated by Fauun (ABN 43773047705), based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In this policy, "we", "us" and "Sholo" mean that business. You can contact us at hello@getsholo.com
We aim to handle your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
2. What we collect
Account details. Your name, email address and login details when you sign up.
What you create and tell Sholo. The messages you send in Dream, Mentor and Nerd modes, Sholo's replies, your setup answers, your lists, your wins and the pictures you add to your Inspo board.
Images you attach in chats. The image itself is not stored by Sholo (see section 6). We keep only a record that an image was attached to a message, and a count of how many you have attached.
Memory notes. Short facts that Sholo picks out of your conversations, such as your business idea, audience, offers and decisions, so it can help you with more context next time. See section 5.
Plan and subscription details. Your plan (trial, free or subscriber), your trial dates, how many messages you have used in the current period, and how many chat images you have attached. If you subscribe, Apple processes the payment and we do not receive your card or bank details. We receive confirmation from Apple, through our subscription provider RevenueCat, of whether your subscription is active, which plan it is and when it started, renewed or ended.
Technical information. Your device type and operating system, a device identifier, and your IP address. These are received by the app and by the providers listed in section 7 when your device connects to them, so that Sholo works and stays secure.
Messages to us. If you contact us, we keep your message and our reply.
3. A note about sensitive information
Sholo doesn't ask for sensitive details such as your health, family, religion, finances or relationships, and it is designed not to save them as memory notes. But you decide what to write or attach in a chat, and the system is automated, so it can make mistakes. If you share something sensitive, we'll use it only to give you the service. Please let us know if a note has been saved that you want removed.
4. How we use your information
We use your information to:
create and run your account and give you the Sholo service, including replies, saved chats, lists, wins and your Inspo board;
remember useful context between chats;
count your messages and image attachments and apply your plan's limits;
confirm and manage your subscription status;
send service emails such as email verification, password resets, and trial and limit notices;
keep Sholo safe and fix problems;
meet our legal obligations.
We only send marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them, and every one will have an unsubscribe option. We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
5. How Sholo's memory works
After your conversations, Sholo may save short notes about what you have shared, such as your business idea or a decision you made. Mentor Mode and Nerd Mode can read these notes to give you more relevant help. Dream Mode doesn't read them, so it stays a blank canvas, but it may add to them. The modes can't read your other chats, only the notes.
The notes are written automatically and may sometimes be wrong. You can ask us at any time to delete them. Sholo does not create memory notes from images you attach in chats.
6. AI processing
To write replies, Sholo sends your messages, recent conversation history and relevant memory notes to Anthropic, the company that provides the Claude AI models. Anthropic processes this content for us. Under its commercial terms, content sent through its API is not used to train its models, but it may keep it for a limited time for safety and legal reasons.
We don't use your content to train AI models ourselves. AI replies can be inaccurate, so please check anything important. Sholo is not a lawyer, accountant, financial adviser or medical professional.
Images you attach in chats
You can attach one image to a message in Dream, Mentor or Nerd chats, for example a photo or a screenshot you'd like to talk through.
How it works. Your device resizes the image before it is sent. The resized image is passed to Anthropic so it can generate a reply to that message. It is used for that one reply only. Sholo does not save the image: it is not kept in your account, it is not added to your memory notes, and it is not included in later requests. When you reopen a conversation, you'll see a note that an image was attached, but not the image itself.
What we do keep. A simple record that an image was attached to a message, and a count of how many images you have attached, so we can apply your plan's limits.
Anthropic. Anthropic processes the image to produce a reply. How Anthropic handles data it receives through its service is covered by its own privacy policy, available at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Please be careful what you share. Please don't attach images containing sensitive personal details such as identity documents, bank or card details, or health information. Please also don't attach images of other people without their permission.
7. Who we share information with
We share information only with the services that help us run Sholo:
Base44, the platform that hosts the app and stores its data.
Anthropic, which processes your messages and any chat images to produce replies.
Apple, which processes App Store subscription payments under its own terms and privacy policy.
RevenueCat, which manages and confirms subscription status for us.
Despia, which provides the technology that packages Sholo as an iPhone app.
Email service providers, which send our service emails.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or to protect our legal rights. If our business is sold or restructured, your information may be transferred as part of that, and we will tell you.
Our team may view your content when needed to support you, investigate a problem, keep Sholo secure or meet the law. We limit this to what is necessary.
8. Overseas disclosure
These providers may store or process your information in other countries, including the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it appropriately. By using Sholo, you understand your information may be handled outside Australia.
9. Sharing chats
If you use the share feature, anyone with the link may be able to see that item. Only share items you are happy for others to see.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Sholo and our website use cookies and similar storage on your device to keep you logged in and remember your settings. You can control cookies in your browser, but parts of Sholo may not work without the ones needed for login.
11. How long we keep information, and deleting it
We keep your information while your account is active.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings in the app. If you prefer, you can email hello@getsholo.com and ask us to do it. We will delete your personal information within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days, except what we must keep for legal, tax or security reasons. Backups may take a little longer to clear. If an account is inactive for 12 months, we may delete it after giving you notice.
Your subscription. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Please cancel it first in your Apple ID subscription settings so you are not charged again. We can't cancel it for you, because Apple manages it.
Chats, lists, wins and memory notes. If you delete a chat, a list or a win, it is removed from your account.
Inspo board pictures. Pictures you add to your Inspo board are saved in your account so you can come back to them, and they are handled separately from images attached in chats. When you delete a picture, or delete your account, it is removed from your account and can no longer be viewed by you or accessed through Sholo. Because of how our hosting platform stores files, the underlying picture file may remain in private storage after deletion. It is not accessible through Sholo and is not used for any other purpose. If you would like us to ask our hosting provider to permanently remove a file, email hello@getsholo.com.
Chat images. These are not stored by Sholo, so there is nothing to delete. The record that an image was attached is removed along with the chat or your account.
12. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
show you the personal information we hold about you;
correct anything that is wrong;
delete your information or close your account (see section 11 for how stored picture files are handled);
send you a copy of your information in a common format.
Email hello@getsholo.com. We may need to confirm who you are first. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you live outside Australia, local laws may give you additional rights, and we will respect them as required.
13. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including secure hosting, private file storage and access controls so each person can only see their own records. No online service is completely secure, so we can't promise absolute security. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
14. Children
Sholo is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us information, please contact us and we'll delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sholo changes. We'll post the new version here with a new date, and for significant changes we'll also let you know by email or in the app.
16. Contact and complaints
If you have a question or a concern, email hello@getsholo.com. We will look into it and reply as soon as we can. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
